Trust your instinct, If you visit a web after seeing an online link or local advert in a shop window wanting to sell you something check they have listed their contact details where you can easily find them, also search whois, a free service to let you lookup the web address, a web suffix ending in uk will list the contact details on a record unless the person who registered it has opted to hide the contact details, although if you are a trader you must show the address. If you find they have opted to hide details and no address is listed on-line either, it is advisable to move on or you could become the victim of an unscrupulous business - a phone number is not enough to help prove a business is legitimate!

Search Keynect Whois http://www.keynect.co.uk/whois

There has been a lot of emphasis of on-line security and computers becoming infected so for anyone interested I would advice to run the following free versions of the software to scan your PC for Malware, Viruses Trojans and other threats, there are two steps. This software is an added safeguard even if you already have other virus software installed. You may be surprised what you find, these downloads are safe to use and very effective at finding things other programs may miss.

Step one: Go to http://www.malwarebytes.org - Click on the "Download free version" button, follow the links to download area and save this file to your computer and run it first following all on-screen prompts and selecting a full or quick scan.

Step two: The second scan is an on-line virus scan provided by Panda Security, to start the on-line Panda scan go to the web address http://www.pandasecurity.com/activescan in either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. Lookout for activex control prompts in your browser window to run a full scan(recommended). Remember to run this scan last!!

We have been asked to place the following message looking for contestants and contributors for a BBC show.

For the second series of Cowboy Trap, presented by Clive Holland, we are looking for homeowners whose lives and properties are in chaos thanks to 'cowboy' workmen. This is your chance to get the job finished properly, call to account the builders, plumbers, electricians, roofers or joiners who are to blame, and share your experience to help prevent other viewers from falling into the 'cowboy trap'. Filming takes place between now and July 2010, so get in touch now. Cowboy Trap is produced for the BBC by Mentorn Scotland. Contact Vicky.lee@mentorn.com or Call 01414226032
